Aberdonians may soon be able to take trips using the popular ride sharing app Uber.

The American private hire giant has applied for a licence in the Granite City.

Locals have been invited to share their opinions about the application with Aberdeen city licencing team.

Messages of approval or disapproval can be sent to licensing@aberdeencity.gov.uk.

The feedback period is set to end on May 10.

Uber hopes the move will boost the local economy - however, taxi driver Gavin Duthie isn't sure the demand is there.

He said: "I've already gone part-time in the industry because there's not enough work at certain hours of the day and on certain days.

"The only the time you really struggle with demand is the Christmas/Winter period, and the rest of the time it's quite easy to get a taxi in my opinion."

But he concedes: "As long as they have to do the same tests I did myself, it's fine."
